I broke out certain circuits from the main panel to a sub panel that I power with the invertor. That way, I don't have to worry about the microwave oven or water heater, or the roof A/Cs accidentally being powered by the invertor. Running those high amperage appliances would quickly deplete the batteries. I instead, crank up the generator when either of these are needed. |
Note: A subpanel is a smaller service panel that distributes power to a specific area. It is essentially a satellite circuit breaker panel that has its own breakers. |

With the original benches gone,
there's
room for some storage beneath.

It opens up easily for easy access |
There's plenty of room for the inverter
and is right above the batteries, about a 16" wire run.

The 3" between the 1x6 framing and wall is perfect for a wiring raceway covered by uretane instulation board. |

Notice that the 1x6s are fastened together using only
steel corner braces with lots of #8 x 3/4" panhead screws. |

I built this large drawer mounted on small wheels. It has
thin
carpet on the sides to keep from scuffing the cabinets. |
It's a very close fit. |
Bottom is more shallow at the rear to
allow
for the slope in the floor.
