While at Rock Crusher I saw a neat screen door on the GMC owned
by Bill Wessel from Pennsylvania. It is a folding screen door,
standing inside the coach it slides from right to left and does
not interfere with the closing of the exterior door. The frame
work is a small round steel bar shaped like a backward E and formed
to the curve of the side walls. The three fingers of this backward
E are each attached to a triple slide drawer slide. The top drawer
slide is attached to the wall behind the storage cabinets to the
left of the entrance door, the middle slide is attached to the
wall just beneath the windows to the left of the entrance door
and the bottom slide is attached to the wall where it meets the
floor. The screen is finished around the edges to prevent fraying.
There are metal eyelets in the screen that the three fingers slide
through to support the screen. The right hand side of the screen
is attached to the frame work by velcro, I think. A magnet on
the right hand side of the frame near the handle keeps the screen
door securely closed. - Jim Bolick (3-11-02)
I have one of Roger's screen doors on my 76 Palm Beach and
it is great. The thing we like best about it is that it is out
of the way except when we want to use it. Roger has also designed
and made a new type of slide out step for the entrance door. Again,
simple and out of the way unless you want to use it. He has installed
one on my GMC. Again great site, thanks for all the effort. -
